Reconstruction of Maa Thakurain Temple in Village Jhagada, Odisha by Kaustav Charitable Trust

Maa Thakurain Temple is an age old temple in the scheduled caste populated village Jhagada in Ganjam district, Odisha State.Large number of devotees perform puja every tuesday particularly in the month of Chaitra.The deity is the ishta devta of the villagers of the village Jhagada and surrounding villages of Chikiti Tehsil and they have deepest faith in the deity.
But the temple remained unmaintained for a very long time and the condition deteriorated with its floor and walls drastically damaged due to wear and tear.The village is indeed poverty ridden and the villagers are not in a position to maintain it.

Kaustav Charitable Trust came forward to address the accumulated wear and tear and deterioration of the temple in February-2025.With the help of villagers, the surroundings of the temple covered with wild growth of unwanted herbs was cleaned. The old damaged floor and walls was entirely scraped and the most sacred innermost garbagriha (sanctum sanctorium) of the temple of the deity’s idol is placed was fitted with good quality ceramic tiles including the front platform. The stainless gate was fitted and the cook house was repaired extensively and the entire temple was distempered keeping its architectural structures in tact.The deep well which required maintenance was cleaned.The renovation was completed in April-2025 and entire cost was borne by the trust.

Support to Pursue MBBS After Untimely Death of Father Due to Cancer:

A lightning bolt struck the family of Sudhir Kumar Padhi from Silvassa, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, when he was diagnosed with mouth cancer in April 2022. His son, Soumya Sumesh Sudhir Kumar Padhi, was in his 2nd year of MBBS at NAMO Medical Education & Research Institute, Silvassa.

Due to the debilitating illness, Sudhir Kumar lost his job, and the family was left helpless and in distress, with no other source of income. This situation left the entire family emotionally and financially broken.

Upon hearing of Sudhir’s sudden demise, Kaustav Charitable Trust took the initiative to support the family through their financial and emotional crisis. The Trust began providing Rs. 5,000 per month, along with additional support as needed, to help Soumya continue his studies and ensure the family’s basic needs were met.

Feeding Futures in Tribal Odisha at Sri Govindpur High School,Ganjam Odisha

A Kaustav Charitable Trust Initiative
In rural pockets of India, hunger remains an everyday battle — especially in tribal areas like Ganjam District, Odisha.
To combat this and continuing with past few years initiative, Kaustav Charitable Trust conducted a focused food distribution program at Sri Govindpur High School, located deep in a tribal region on 23/January/2025. Here, 120 school children were provided with freshly cooked, age-appropriate meals designed to support their physical and cognitive growth.

✔ Locally sourced food to support both children and the regional economy

Support a Child Battling Progeria – A Rare Autoimmune Disease

During a recent Food Distribution Program conducted by Kaustav Charitable Trust in Village Jhagada, District Ganjam, Odisha on 08 April 2025, we came across a heartbreaking story — a young boy suffering from Progeria, a rare and life-limiting autoimmune genetic disorder.
This child lives with a disproportionately large head, extremely fragile and underdeveloped body, deformed hips, and muscle weakness. He has already lost his primary teeth, and his condition has led to premature aging, mental health challenges, and severely stunted growth.
His parents, in their desperate attempt to find a cure, have consulted doctors in Mumbai and Odisha, but have found little relief. The President of Kaustav Charitable Trust has personally intervened and reached out to prominent doctors in Berhampur, Odisha. Although Progeria is largely incurable, doctors have advised that symptomatic and hormonal treatments may improve his quality of life.
This is not just a medical condition — it’s a daily battle for survival.
